I’ve been in the delivery business for quite some time. I’m not sure if that’s the word to use for it but I feel like I’ve got so much experience that I can choose. So, for the last couple of years I’ve been working with international shipping in Miami. This has been something that really made me develop in the industry. It felt like a new step to start working, in Miami, with international shipping apart from just domestic.

The reason why I moved to Miami was not to work with international shipping from the beginning. As we got our first kid, my spouse wanted to move closer to her parents. I agreed since we needed as much help as we could with the kid. Miami it was and, as is happened, I started working in international shipping.

It’s quite interesting how it all played out, if I’m being honest. I mean, I knew nothing about the city. Knew nothing about Florida and what it would be like to live there. I just started applying for jobs. As it happened, one company in Miami, working in international shipping, was now looking for a new chief of administration. This was exactly what I had done before. My expectations for getting the job were low though. I was not only new in Miami, but new in international shipping too. I was sure someone else with more experience than me would get it.

That did not happen, and the main reason for that was timing. They were looking for someone that could start yesterday, and I was free instantly. That was the reason why they choose to give me the job. So the whole thing was pretty amazing. I got a job in an exciting area in which I’d never worked before. International shipping in Miami was a pretty big deal. I also got a higher salary than I got at my last job. Pretty big difference, if I’m being transparent.

It all turned out so very well when we moved down south. I did not expect this. I got to work with international shipping, in an important role, in Miami (!). If you would have told me this 2 years ago, I would have laughed.
